Dr Fiona McMichen

BDS (Lond), MSc (Lond)

Specialist in Endodontics and Clinical Director

Fiona qualified from University College Hospital Dental School. She completed her vocational training and then worked in Berlin for the American Army in a multi-specialist dental centre. On returning to the UK she worked in general practice before deciding to undertake further dental education. This involved a  programme in Restorative Dentistry at the Eastman during which she was accepted onto their Endodontic Masters programme and gained her MSc in 1996. Fiona is a registered Specialist Endodontist a member of the British Endodontic Society, The European Endodontic Society, a regular guest at the International Academy of Endodontists, a member of the International Endodontic community TDO, and a founder member of the post-graduate Langham Endodontic Study Club.

After leaving the Eastman, Fiona set up her Endodontic referral practice here in Surrey. She has lectured on both the Endodontic  Diploma and Restorative Certificates courses at The Eastman as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer for 20 years. She has also run postgraduate courses at various locations in the UK and more recently here at The Tanshire Clinic.

There have been some fantastic advances recently in the endodontic field that help save teeth.  Greater conservation of tooth structure, aided by advances in material technology, 3D radiographic visualisation and the use of microscopes to magnify and illuminate the field of interest. Fiona continues to be absolutely fascinated by her specialty and regularly attends courses at home and abroad with some of the world's greatest minds in Endodontics, Dentistry and the broader fields of Science.
